Finding Alignment Through Wellness, Community, and Intuition: A Friday Reset in San Diego

Even though today was Friday, it didn't feel like it. I've still been playing catch up at my full-time job after being gone in the UK for a few weeks, and every day has felt busy from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. That being said, it does feel good to slowly work through my to-do list and start checking things off. Progress is progress, even if it's one task at a time.

On my lunch break, I headed to Club Pilates for a Reformer Flow 1.5 class. One of the fun promotions they're doing this month is letting members bring a friend to class for free, so one of my friends will be joining me later this month for her very first Pilates class. I'm excited for her because I remember how nervous I was before taking my first reformer class, and now it's become one of my favorite parts of my weekly routine. I have a feeling she's going to love it.

A Corporate Sound Bath Opportunity

After work, I had one of those discovery calls that leaves you feeling really energized.

A corporate client reached out about potentially bringing me in to facilitate a corporate sound bath for more than 40 people, and conversations like these always remind me why I started my business in the first place. I love creating wellness experiences for groups, especially in corporate settings where employees are often carrying so much stress and rarely get permission to simply slow down.

The largest sound bath I've facilitated so far was for more than 60 people at a conference center, and last year I also had the opportunity to bring my crystal singing bowls on stage at the Health & Wellness Coaching Conference to over 300+. Thinking back on that experience made me smile because at the time I was still a health and wellness coaching student at Mesa College. Fast forward one year, and now I'm a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, an ACE Certified Health Coach, and I'm working with coaching clients while continuing to grow my business.

It's amazing what a year of consistent effort can do.

If you're part of a company, organization, conference, or retreat that's looking to incorporate wellness programming, I'd love to connect. Whether you're interested in a sound bath, guided meditation, guided imagery, wellness workshop, keynote speaking, or something completely different, I'm always happy to brainstorm ideas. I've spent most of my life planning events, and I love bringing people together around a shared experience.

Public speaking is another area I really enjoy. I've had the opportunity to present at national conferences, including the National Head Start Conference, where I presented on building bridges to empower community connection and family engagement. If you're looking for a wellness speaker or facilitator, feel free to reach out through my discovery call link. Even if you aren't exactly sure what you're looking for yet, I'd love to chat and help you think outside the box.

A Conversation with My Brother

One of the best parts of my evening was talking with my younger brother.

We're only 18 months apart, and he's one of my best friends. He's also sober, and although our recovery journeys have looked different, we've experienced so much of life together that he understands me in a way very few people do.

He's helped me with countless sound baths over the past year. He's been there for the setup, the cleanup, the loading and unloading of equipment, and all the behind-the-scenes work that people don't always see. He understands how much planning, energy, and intention goes into creating an experience where someone can walk through the door, set the outside world aside, and simply receive.

There was a situation I've been working through recently, and I wanted his perspective. What I appreciate about my brother is that he'll always support me, but he'll also tell me the truth. He's incredibly grounded, thoughtful, and asks really good questions. By the end of our conversation, I felt so much more clear about the decision I need to make. It feels intentional, aligned, and ultimately for the highest good of everyone involved.

Friday Night at Breathe Degrees

If you've been following my blog for a while, you already know where I spend most Friday nights.

Healthy Happy Hour at Breathe Degrees in Liberty Station has become one of my favorite weekly rituals.

I usually get there a little early so I can stretch, ground myself, do a little Reiki on myself, and just settle into the space before class begins. This week the breathwork instructor was Brooke, and it was my first class with her.

She was incredible.

Her style was a little slower than some of the other instructors, and I actually really appreciated that. During the breathwork session I experienced some really vivid visuals and felt incredibly grounded. With my Reiki Master training happening the very next day, I found myself focusing on being open to receiving and preparing myself for the next chapter of my Reiki journey.

After breathwork came one of my favorite parts of the evening….. contrast therapy.

I've been especially sore this week between Power Pilates, my personal training sessions at The Exercise Coach, and everything else I've had going on, so sitting in the hot jacuzzi felt amazing.

Then it was time for the cold plunge.

42 degrees.

3 minutes in the hot.

3 minutes in the cold.

I repeat that cycle 3 times before finishing in the sauna.

The sauna was for Aufguss Ceremoney was 175 degrees, the towels were infused with essential oils, music was bumping Nelly ‘it’s getting hot in here’, and the entire experience just felt restorative. I left feeling like every ounce of stress I'd been carrying throughout the week had finally melted away.

If you've never tried contrast therapy, I highly recommend it.

The Right People Always Seem to Appear

One of the things I love most about going to Breathe Degrees is that I usually go by myself.

I enjoy solo experiences because I think they naturally make me more open to talking with new people. You never know who you're going to meet.

Tonight I ended up chatting with a woman who happens to be an acupuncturist.

I had literally just met with my doctor a couple days ago to get a referral for acupuncture after finding out my insurance covers 20 visits a year.

So of course, the universe places an acupuncturist directly in front of me.

I asked if she accepted my insurance.

She said yes.

Sometimes life has a funny way of connecting the dots when we least expect it.

A Cooler Apartment and a Little Tarot Wisdom

When I got home, I realized my new dehumidifier was already almost half full of water.

San Diego has been so hot and humid lately, and since I don't have AC, my apartment has felt like a sauna all week. My Ultrahuman Ring even kept asking if I might have a fever or if my bedroom was simply too warm.

The answer was the bedroom.

After one night of running the dehumidifier, I could already tell it was making a difference, and physically seeing all the water it had pulled out of the air made me feel like I'd made the right purchase.

Before calling it a night, I decided to do a tarot reading for myself about the situation I'd talked through with my brother.

I pulled the Queen of Cups, the Two of Cups, and the King of Wands reversed.

The reading immediately resonated with me.

The Queen of Cups reminded me to stay emotionally grounded and trust my intuition. The Two of Cups reflected my desire to preserve the relationship and approach the situation with mutual understanding and respect. Then came the King of Wands reversed, which felt like the clearest message of all. It reminded me that while I care deeply about the relationship, I also can't ignore when something begins affecting my passion, my purpose, and the way I want to show up in my work.

Sometimes staying aligned means making difficult decisions with compassion.

It doesn't have to come from anger.

It can come from clarity.

That reading gave me exactly what I needed.

I realized it's probably time to start pulling cards for myself more consistently again. I like to spend a month working with a single oracle deck, really learning its energy and developing my own relationship with it. Guidebooks are wonderful when you're first learning tarot or oracle cards, but over time I've found that your own intuition becomes your greatest teacher.

As I wrapped up the evening, I couldn't help but smile.

The next time I write one of these journal entries, I'll officially be a Reiki Master, and I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings.
