Finding Balance on a Busy Monday | Sound Healing, King Tides & Reiki in San Diego

Some days feel effortless.

Other days feel heavy before your feet even hit the floor.

Today was one of those days.

I woke up feeling completely off. There wasn't one specific reason I could point toβ€”I just felt like I had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Maybe you've experienced those mornings too, where everything feels a little heavier than usual and you can't quite explain why.

As someone who teaches meditation, Reiki, Yoga Nidra, and sound healing, people sometimes assume I never have difficult days. The truth is, I'm human too. I still have moments where I feel anxious, overwhelmed, or simply "off."

The difference isn't that those feelings don't happen.

It's learning how to move through them with compassion instead of resistance.

🌊 King Tides in San Diego: A Reminder of Nature's Power

The night before, I had gone for a walk around Sail Bay in Mission Bay with a friend before dinner at Miss B's Coconut Club.

If you've never walked around Sail Bay, I highly recommend it. It's one of my favorite places in San Diego for an evening stroll. The path follows the water, there's almost always a refreshing breeze, sailboats drifting across the bay, and several parks along the way if you're visiting with family.

What caught our attention, though, wasn't the sunset.

It was the water.

The tide had come in so far that sections of the walking path were completely underwater. We actually had to weave through nearby neighborhoods before reconnecting with the trail near Mission Beach.

I follow the moon phases closely, but I realized I didn't know much about tidal cycles. Like many people, I had always associated the biggest tides with the full moon.

After doing a little research, we learned that King Tides were expected to peak Monday evening.

Seeing the ocean reclaim parts of the shoreline was a powerful reminder of just how connected the moon is to our natural world.

Sometimes nature reminds us that there are forces much bigger than ourselves.

πŸŒ‘ Sometimes Grounding Doesn't Happen Right Away

Monday morning, I tried everything I normally do to regulate my nervous system.

I meditated.

I practiced grounding exercises.

I used my new Sensate device.

I slowed my breathing.

Nothing seemed to shift the heaviness.

And honestly...

That's okay.

One lesson I've been learning is that healing isn't about forcing ourselves to feel better immediately.

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is acknowledge where we are instead of pretending we're somewhere else.

🎡 Bringing Sound Healing to the Recovery Community

After working most of the morning, I spent my lunch break facilitating a sound bath for a local rehabilitation facility here in San Diego.

Offering sound healing within recovery communities has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Whether someone is navigating addiction recovery, burnout, chronic stress, or a major life transition, everyone deserves access to moments of rest.

Even though I was still feeling a little emotionally heavy, something shifted while holding space for others.

It reminded me why I do this work.

πŸ’ͺ Movement as Medicine

After finishing my workday, the evening became a whirlwind of wellness.

First, I headed to Club Pilates for class.

Pilates has become such an important part of my weekly routine. Carrying seven crystal singing bowls, setting up sound baths, and transporting equipment requires more strength than people often realize, and Pilates has helped me build stability and core strength while reducing soreness.

From there, I quickly grabbed dinner before heading to my weekly personal training session at The Exercise Coach in La Jolla.

Their strength training workouts are only about twenty minutes long, but they're incredibly effective and have become another staple in my wellness routine.

Some weeks are busy, but I genuinely love prioritizing movement because it allows me to show up more fully for my clients.

🌿 Sound Bath & Reiki at Vibrant Life Yoga

After my workout, I drove directly to Vibrant Life Yoga in Sorrento Valley, where I host Sound Bath & Reiki experiences on the second and third Monday of every month.

This studio has become one of my favorite places to teach.

It's warm, welcoming, and intentionally designed for relaxation.

Everything participants need is already provided:

  • Yoga mats

  • Blankets

  • Bolsters

  • Weighted eye masks

  • Comfortable props

Guests truly only need to bring themselves.

✨ Welcoming First-Time Sound Bath Participants

One of my favorite moments from the evening was meeting several guests who had never experienced a sound bath before.

Watching someone experience sound healing for the very first time never gets old.

I always spend time introducing each instrument so participants know what they're hearing and how the different sounds may feel throughout the experience.

Tonight's instruments included:

  • Seven quartz crystal singing bowls

  • A ten-minute rain stick

  • Thunder drum

  • Koshi Air Chime

  • Meditation chime

Each instrument brings its own texture, vibration, and energy to the experience.

By the end of the evening, several guests shared how deeply relaxed they felt and how surprised they were by the experience.

Moments like those remind me why I love introducing people to sound healing.

🌿 The Untethered Soul and Sitting with Our Emotions

Interestingly, by the time the sound bath ended, I realized I felt completely different than I had that morning.

Not because I had ignored my emotions.

Because I had allowed myself to experience them.

One book that has deeply influenced my personal growth is The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer.

One of the greatest lessons I've taken from it is the importance of observing our emotions without becoming consumed by them.

Throughout the day, I kept asking myself:

"Why am I feeling this way?"

Instead of trying to suppress the emotion, I stayed curious.

Sometimes there isn't a perfect answer.

Sometimes feelings simply move through us if we give them enough space.

By the end of the night, I felt lighter.

Not because the day had been easy.

But because I had stopped fighting what I was feeling.

Finding Gratitude in the Everyday

Today reminded me that wellness isn't about feeling positive all the time.

It's about having tools, practices, and a supportive community to help carry you through the days when you don't.

Some days begin in a funk.

Sometimes they end with gratitude.

And sometimes the very practices we share with others become the ones that gently guide us back to ourselves.
