Finding Alignment Through Community, Sound Healing, and Purpose: A Wellness Journey in San Diego
Some days are filled with major milestones. Others are quieter, reminding us that growth often happens in the small, intentional moments. Today was one of those days.
Today was another warm and humid summer day in San Diego, but it was filled with little moments that reminded me why I love health and wellness, community, and creating spaces where people can truly reconnect with themselves.
Discovering the Best Cookies in San Diego
My morning started on a very sweet note.
If you've followed me for any amount of time, you already know I am always on the hunt for the best matcha, wellness experiences, and local small businesses. Lately I've also found myself following several San Diego food creators on TikTok, and one recommendation kept appearing on my feed….. Star and Sugar
Their deep dish cookies have become somewhat legendary around San Diego.
Ordering is an event in itself. Reservations open every Saturday at noon, and they sell out incredibly fast. I ordered the Classic Chocolate Chip, Dubai Chocolate, Biscoff, and Peanut Butter cookies.
The Dubai Chocolate cookie completely lived up to the hype. Filled with pistachio cream and rich chocolate ganache, it may honestly be one of the best cookies I've ever had. I shared the Biscoff cookie with a coworker and the Peanut Butter cookie with another friend, and everyone agreed they were incredible.
Supporting local businesses like this always brings me so much joy.
Exploring Astrocartography and Where the Stars May Lead
One of the most fascinating discoveries today was a free astrocartography website called Get Lora
Astrocartography combines your birth chart with geography to suggest places around the world where certain energies may be strongest for you.
After entering my birth date, birth time, and birthplace, I received recommendations for places that aligned with different areas of my life.
Some of my highlights included:
Melbourne, Australia as a location connected to success
Austin, Texas as another supportive location
Barcelona, Spain as an ideal travel destination
Los Angeles listed as one of my least supportive places
That last one honestly made me laugh because although I love visiting family in Los Angeles, I've never felt called to live there. San Diego has always felt much more aligned with who I am.
Whether you believe in astrology or simply enjoy exploring new perspectives, astrocartography is a fascinating tool for self reflection.
A Midday Pilates Challenge
During my lunch break I headed to Honor Pilates in Kearny Mesa.
Their Power Pilates class is only forty minutes long, but instructor Irene somehow manages to challenge every muscle in your body during those forty minutes.
This isn't a gentle reformer class. It is a true strength workout that leaves you feeling accomplished, energized, and surprisingly refreshed before heading back to work.
If you're looking for reformer Pilates in San Diego and enjoy being challenged, Honor Pilates continues to be one of my favorite studios.
Discovering Acupuncture Is Covered by Insurance
Immediately after class I had a virtual appointment with my primary care physician.
One of the biggest surprises of the day was learning that my Kaiser insurance covers 20 acupuncture visits each year with a referral.
As someone who values holistic wellness and integrative care, I was genuinely excited.
If you're in San Diego and know an excellent acupuncturist who accepts Kaiser insurance, I'd love your recommendations.
The Power of Community Partnerships
The afternoon included another one of my favorite parts of my full time career.
I attended the Linda Vista Collaborative, a community meeting that brings together organizations throughout San Diego to share resources, upcoming programs, and ways to better serve local families.
One presentation focused on environmental initiatives happening throughout the City of San Diego, which was fascinating to learn about.
Community partnerships like these remind me how much good work is happening behind the scenes every single day.
Continuing to Learn as a Small Business Owner
Driving home from work, I listened to two free SCORE webinars for small business owners.
One focused on improving discovery calls, while the other discussed networking and building authentic business relationships.
I love hearing different coaching perspectives because there is always something new to learn.
I've never been afraid to talk to strangers. In fact, I genuinely enjoy hearing people's stories. Every conversation has the potential to teach us something, introduce us to a new opportunity, or remind us that we're far more alike than we often realize.
I believe there are very few coincidences in life.
Sometimes the people we meet are exactly who we're supposed to cross paths with.
Another Beautiful Evening at The Meditation Nook
Wednesday evenings mean one thing.
Sound bath night.
I arrived at The Meditation Nook in Kearny Mesa to host my weekly Ignite & Align Midsummer Reset Sound Bath.
One of my favorite parts of facilitating these experiences is seeing familiar faces return.
Every repeat participant reminds me that something about the experience resonated deeply enough for them to come back.
At the same time, I also love welcoming people attending their very first sound bath.
Each practitioner offers something unique, and I feel incredibly grateful that people choose to spend their evening with me.
San Diego truly has an abundance of gifted healers, yoga teachers, Reiki practitioners, coaches, and wellness professionals. There is room for all of us, and I love being part of such a supportive community.
Upcoming Sound Healing Events in San Diego
If you've been curious about experiencing one of my events, I'd love to welcome you.
Sound Bath & Yoga Nidra
Monday, July 20
VibrantLife Yoga | Sorrento Valley | 6:00 PM
Yoga Nidra, often called "yogic sleep," is a guided meditation practice that helps calm the nervous system while remaining in a deeply restorative state of awareness.
Every Yoga Nidra script I use is personally written and customized.
I'm also excited to share that I'll soon be professionally recording many of these scripts for Insight Timer and major streaming platforms.
Sound Bath & Reiki
Wednesday, July 23
The Meditation Nook | Kearny Mesa | 7:00 PM
This experience combines:
Guided grounding meditation
Yoga Nidra
Crystal singing bowls
Hands on or hands off Reiki
Small group community connection
I intentionally limit every event to just 10 participants.
Smaller groups allow for a more intimate experience where everyone has space to fully relax, receive, and connect.
Both venues provide everything you need including yoga beds or mats, blankets, bolsters, eye masks, tea, and water.
Simply arrive exactly as you are.
A New Chapter as a Reiki Master
This weekend I will be completing my Reiki Master certification, something I have been intentionally working toward over the past year.
Rather than rushing through each level, I've taken my time developing my practice and learning how to hold space for others.
Reiki is universal life force energy.
It is not my energy that is being given away. Instead, I serve as a channel for energy that is available to anyone who chooses to receive it.
During my Reiki events I often place my hands gently on the feet or lower legs to support grounding through the Root Chakra, although participants are always welcome to receive Reiki without physical touch.
Every experience is unique, and it is always an honor to witness what unfolds for each participant.
Choosing Purpose Every Day
As I reflected on the day, I realized that every part of it pointed back to the same thing.
Supporting local businesses.
Serving my community.
Continuing my education.
Learning from others.
Creating intentional spaces where people feel safe enough to simply rest.
Purpose isn't always found in one extraordinary moment.
Sometimes it's found in the collection of ordinary moments that quietly point us back toward who we're becoming.
And today felt beautifully aligned with exactly that.
